Rob LeChevallier presented local Lake Oswegan Sam Wolf with the First Place Award for the 4-Way Speech Contest on behalf of the Rotary Club District 5100 of Oregon and Washington. Sam Wolf is a student of Waluga Junior High School in Lake Oswego. Sam was awarded a $500 U.S. Savings Bond courtesy of the Speech Contest sponsor, West Coast Bank.
Contestants were required to write and deliver a speech invoking the principles of the 4-Way Test. The 4-Way Test is the practical yardstick Rotarians have been using for almost 70 years to weigh issues related to business, community and personal affairs. It asks the following four questions:
“Of The Things We Think, Say or Do:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
Congratulations, Sam!
